They Still Need To Improve: See The Three (3) Thomas Tuchel MUST QUICKLY FIX before Tottenham Hotspur match

EVERTON 0-1 CHELSEA: Three Shortcomings Chelsea Had Against Everton

Chelsea played their first league match against Everton, and their stylish victory is among trending Premier League topics. The Blues defeated their former coach's team 0-1 in the match, which lasted for 100 minutes.

Although it was not a smooth game for Chelsea as they were also on the receiving end of attacking pressure and had to make four substitutions to calm the tempo from Everton. Also, Tuchel's team lacked a cutting edge in some key positions and nearly conceded towards the closing minutes.

To analyze further, below are three areas Chelsea had some shortcomings in their match against Everton.

1. Lack of chance creation

A shortcoming could be noticed in Chelsea's attack as Sterling was arguably the only attacking player who was being able to drive past Everton's defense. The English man was also unlucky not to be on the score sheet due to his goal being ruled out for offside.

Mount had to be replaced in the second half as his wing was silent, and Kai Havertz was not his former self. Despite some substitutions, much could still not be achieved in terms of goal attempts.

2. Weak midfield defense

The heart of the midfield is also an area where the Blues had a drawback in the match. Balls were being won by Iwobi easily, and Kante appeared to be the only one defending as Jorginho focused more on going forward. Also, there was no free flow of the ball to the attack, and Sterling occasionally had to return to be involved.

Poor defending

Periodically, Chelsea's defense was at the mercy of Mendy, who seems to have improved in the pre-season. Koulibaly was doing well to clear loose balls and through-passes, but mistakes by Silva and Chilwell made things difficult for the team.
