Antony make Man United decision
Talented attacker Antony allegedly wants to join Manchester United from Ajax in the summer transfer window.
That’s according to talkSPORT journalist Alex Crook who told Give Me Sport that Ten Hag really wants to sign the 22-year-old and the player himself is keen on a move to Old Trafford.
Alex Crook has told Give Me Sport that the Eredivisie club are in no rush to sell Antony this summer though, having already moved on Lisandro Martinez and Sebastien Haller for large fees. The onus will be with United to force Ajax into selling it seems…
The talented Brazilian attacker is actually keen to move to Old Trafford this summer. That’s according to talkSPORT journalist Alex Crook who told Give Me Sport:
“It’s 50/50 at this stage. Ten Hag is very keen. The player wants to come, but Ajax are in quite a strong position because they’ve already raised money by selling Martinez and Haller, so they don’t need to sell him on the cheap.“
If Antony genuinely does want to join United, Ten Hag just needs to get this one done, whatever the price.
He bagged 12 goals and 10 assists in 33 games for Ajax last season. The previous campaign he chalked up 10 goals and 10 assists in 46 games. Those are impressive numbers for someone so young.
He can play on either wing, is exceptionally fast and possesses incredible technique. Antony’s play is quintessentially Brazilian in the sense that he plays with an abundance of flair and creativity and always tries to excite the crowd.
Manchester Evening News have described the 22-year-old as a ‘scintillating’ player. He clearly has so much talent and his potential is frightening.
Manchester United should be trying to sign Antony as a matter of urgency this summer.
Chelsea now in direct talks to sign €80m Man United target
Premier League rivals Chelsea have started negotiating directly with Barcelona for Manchester United target Frenkie de Jong, Spanish publication Sport claim.
The Red Devils recently reached an agreement with the Blaugrana to land the former Ajax star, but the player has yet to accept personal terms over the transfer.
United believe he would give the ‘OK‘ for the move once his deferred wages are settled, but The Athletic recently said that he is eyeing Champions League football.
The west London outfit have been monitoring United’s pursuit from afar, but the Dutchman is now regarded as a priority for the Blues manager this summer.
Barcelona want a minimum €80m guaranteed from Chelsea for the player. They are prepared to sign Marcos Alonso and Cesar Azpilicueta from them in separate deals.
Just yesterday, Sport said that United are still convinced of signing the ball-playing midfielder knowing that there has not been an approach from any other club.
That has been highlighted as De Jong’s priority on numerous occasions throughout the summer, and United now have a battle on their hands to land his signature.
Ten Hag has already spoken to the player to know his situation. The midfielder has no plans of leaving the Blaugrana until he finds a resolution over his deferred wages.
United have been prepared to play the long game to sign him, but Chelsea’s entry onto the scene could scupper their plans. Hopefully, Ten Hag can persuade De Jong.
The Dutch tactician brought the best out of the midfielder when they were together at Ajax. De Jong excelled from the deep-lying role which is his preferred position.
At Barcelona, he has been forced to play as a number eight instead due to Sergi Busquets. The latter has been the regular choice for the defensive midfield spot.
At United, he would have the chance to make the position his own while playing under a manager he is familiar with. It could still be a driving factor to lure him to the club.
