Four Incredible Records Chelsea Set With Their 1-0 Win Over Everton Yesterday

Chelsea football club got their 2022/23 season off to a fine start after recording an important away win over Frank Lampard's Everton side yesterday evening.

The Toffees welcomed the blues to Merseyside hoping to continue their recent impressive home record against the London team but a reckless challenge by Doucoure on Chillwell inside the Everton box 18 late in the first half proved to be what decided the end result.

Chelsea had most of the possession but Everton were very brave and they defended really well. They had moments were they could've hurt the visitors but they failed to make capitalise on it.

Jorginho's clinical penalty was the only the that separated both teams at the end of 90 minutes and Chelsea managed to set some really impressive records with their victory.

The Four Records Chelsea Set

1) Chelsea became one of only two teams in Premier League history to have won 20 opening games of the season. Although, Manchester United could set a new record today with a victory over Brighton & Hove Albion.

2) Chelsea are the first side to beat Everton on the opening day of the season since QPR at the start of 2011/12. Tuchel's team broke Everton's impressive 10-year record.

3) Chelsea recorded the most corners won in the first half of a Premier League game since the start of the 2016/17 season. They broke their own record with this one.

4) Chelsea recorded their first win at the Goodison Park in 5 years. The last time the blues won away to Everton was in 2017.

5) Jorginho becomes the highest penalty-goal percentage scorer in the Premier League. With 20 goals in the Premier League, 90% of them are penalties (18/20). This is now the highest percentage of any player with at least 10 goals in the competition.

Although, Chelsea were not particularly great in the match, they did the most important thing and got their win. With 3 points on the table, they can improve as they now prepare to take on Tottenham Hotspur in a London derby next weekend.
