Raheem Sterling Playing Style, Special Strength And How He Can Make Chelsea Team Stronger

Raheem Sterling, from a very young age, was an intelligent player but at Manchester City under Pep Guardiola, the world saw a different side of the winger.

Now he is being linked with a move to Chelsea and I must tell all Chelsea fans that Raheem Sterling is the man to make their Premier League title dream come true.

Raheem Sterling is currently better and more productive than all Chelsea attackers at the moment and this can be seen from his statistics in the past few seasons.

Raheem Sterling may be a winger but he has an eye for goal and throughout his career, he has scored over 160 goals and provided 130 assists in 490 matches.

In this article, I will outline Raheem Sterling's special skills that will benefit Chelsea if he eventually joins Thomas Tuchel's side.

Strengths:

Raheem Sterling has Four vital strengths which are currently being lacked in the Arsenal team.

1. Pace:

Pace is simply the speed in running or moving and Raheem Sterling has an enormous amount of pace in him.

Sterling's most obvious asset is his blistering pace and this is one of his special strengths that Chelsea will enjoy next season if he joins.

Currently, Christian Pulisic and Timo Werner are the only players with the pace at Chelsea and they are not delivering for the team hence why Raheem Sterling will become a key player if he joins.

We have seen Sterling at Liverpool and Man City, he is the type of winger that can move at pace with and without the ball, able to change direction effortlessly without slowing down.

2. Defender's nightmare:

Facing Raheem Sterling is always a nightmare for Premier League Defenders especially fullbacks who has to constantly deal with him at all time.

Defenders struggle to contain him and this often results in Sterling drawing a lot of fouls for his teams in dangerous areas.

3. Tactical Flexibility or Versatility:

Raheem Sterling has positioned himself as a super versatile winger who can play in every position in attack.

Raheem Sterling initially began life as a winger at Liverpool but his development under Pep Guardiola at Man City has turned him into a world-class player. Raheem Sterling can operate more centrally, driving at the heart of opposition defences.

Unlike other wingers, Sterling can play any role assigned to him be it as a false nine, right-wing, left-wing or even as an attacking midfielder.

4. Fearlessness:

Raheem Sterling is not yet at the level of Cristiano Ronaldo, Mo Salah and Lionel Messi of this world but he isn't far from them either.

Raheem Sterling is one of the bravest players in the league, fearless and doesn't shy away from trying new things. He rarely goes hiding and is always willing to pick the ball up to try to cause teams problems.

And it's that kind of fearlessness that very often separates the very good players from the world-class ones. Sterling will always be ahead of Timo Werner and Christian Pulisic due to his mentality and ability to try new things while with the ball.

5. Dribbling:

As stated in the second option, defenders fear Raheem Sterling because of his dribbling skills.

Dribbling is the act of skipping past an opponent with trickery and skills and this is what Sterling brings to the table. It's dribbling that results in fouls and Sterling always commits defenders in dangerous areas.

From a Google research, it was discovered that Raheem Sterling has won the most penalties in the top five leagues. The top 5 leagues included EPL, La Liga, Serie A, Ligue One and Bundesliga.

Raheem Sterling won the most penalties since the beginning of the 2016/17 season. He won 18 penalties followed by Kylian Mbappe, Ciro Immobile and Mohamed Salah.

6. Creativity:

As stated earlier, Sterling is capable of causing havoc with his dribbling and pace which in turn opens up goal-scoring opportunities for his teammates.
