Here's Lawro's view on every single game this weekend.
Mark Lawrenson’s got his crystal ball out for another round of Premier League predictions – and there’s £50 on the line in his latest duel with a Paddy Power punter.
Every Premier League matchday we’re putting up at least £/€50 – more if there’s a rollover – to anyone who can outsmart Lawro in predicting the outcome of that week’s games. And with our punter Daniel from Cornwall taking the spoils last time out to the tune of £150, we’re back to square one on the prize fund this week.
NEW TO PADDY POWER NEWS?
For those unfamiliar, the rules are pretty simple: We’ll award one point for a correct result and three points for a correct score (max three points per game, there are no four-pointers here).
This time around we’re gearing up for our own Merseyside derby as West Ham season-ticket holder Mick from Bermondsey goes head-to-head Liverpool legend Lawro. Let’s get into the predictions
SATURDAY 12.30PM: ARSENAL V TOTTENHAM
LAWRO: It’s interesting this weekend because a lot of teams haven’t played for a while now. You never know how everyone’s going to shape up after international duty. Arsenal are full of goals and have started extremely well. Spurs have been decent with just one or two hiccups. These derbies are unpredictable and the best partsof these teams is going forward. Arsenal 2-2 Tottenham.
MICK: Arsenal 2-2 Tottenham
SATURDAY 3PM: BOURNEMOUTH V BRENTFORD
LAWRO: This still feels like a Championship fixture which tells you how well they’ve done in recent years. Gary O’Neil’s done brilliant in difficult circumstances. Arsenal took Brentford apart last time so I think this will be a home win. Bournemouth 2-1 Brentford.
MICK: Bournemouth 1 – 2 Brentford
SATURDAY 3PM: CRYSTAL PALACE V CHELSEA
LAWRO: Graham Potter won’t have had much time to mould this Chelsea team but they’ve got some really outstanding players. We know how Crystal Palace play but I feel they should have more points, they do miss a lot of chances. Crystal Palace 1-2 Chelsea.
MICK: Crystal Palace 1-1 Chelsea
SATURDAY 3PM: FULHAM V NEWCASTLE
LAWRO: Newcastle have only got eight points, you look at them and think they would be doing a bit better than that. Fulham are unlike Fulham teams of old and this lot are feisty, they stand up and fight. Their main man’s scoring, Aleksandar Mitrovic, and that makes a massive, massive difference for any newly-promoted team. Fulham 2-1 Brighton.
MICK: Fulham 2-1 Brighton
SATURDAY 3PM: LIVERPOOL V BRIGHTON
LAWRO: Liverpool need to get back to winning ways, their last game was the Merseyside derby! I’ll be honest, I don’t know much about Roberto De Zerbi. It’s a tough one for Brighton’s new manager but he’ll get a big effort from the players. I think Liverpool should have too much though. Liverpool 2-0 Brighton.
MICK: Liverpool 3-0 Brighton
SATURDAY 3PM: SOUTHAMPTON V EVERTON
LAWRO: I’m not expecting this to be a thriller. Everton finally got that first win of the season which was important for them. Southampton, you never really know how they’re going to play. Everton have tightened up and are hard to beat but I’m just going to go for a narrow home win. Both of these have plenty to improve. Southampton 1-0 Everton.
MICK: Southampton 2-0 Everton
SATURDAY 5.30PM: WEST HAM V WOLVES
LAWRO: Both have struggled badly this season. West Ham lost at Everton last time out and weren’t particularly good but we know they’re a much better side than the results have suggested. Wolves’ issue has been goal scoring and I presume Diego Costa might be fit and they might chuck him in which will be interesting to watch. I’ll certainly be on Diego watch. West Ham 2-0 Wolves.
MICK: West Ham 3-1 Wolves
SUNDAY 2PM: MANCHESTER CITY V MANCHESTER UNITED
LAWRO: Manchester United have obviously improved of late, they had to, and Manchester City are Manchester City. They’re scoring over three goals a game. This will be tighter than that and United always seem to score when they go to play at City. United have been better defensively but you can’t imagine they’ll keep a clean sheet against Erling Haaland and the rest. Manchester City 2-1 Manchester United.
MICK: Manchester City 3-0 Manchester United
SUNDAY 4.30PM: LEEDS V ASTON VILLA
LAWRO: Leeds are always difficult to beat at home, they’ve done okay overall so far. They work extremely hard but Villa got a much needed win last time. Villa need another positive result to keep the points ticking along but they look a bit all over the place defensively. Leeds 1-1 Aston Villa.
MICK: Leeds 4-0 Aston Villa
MONDAY 8PM: LEICESTER CITY V NOTTINGHAM FOREST
LAWRO: Everyone was thinking that Brendan Rodgers would be gone over the international break but obviously the owners have other ideas. Forest have been competitive but they’ve probably got too many players! It sounds daft but they’ve got so many players that they don’t know at the moment what their best team if. I’ll go for Leicester to get their first win of the season. Leicester 2-1 Nottingham Forest.
MICK: Leicester 2-2 Nottingham Forest
