EPL: 2 Reasons Why Chelsea May Lose To Everton Tonight

Chelsea will kick off their 2022/2023 Premier League campaign against Everton at the Goodison Park tonight.

The blues will be coming into the game after an unconvincing performances in the preseason that saw them lose to Charlotte on penalty shootouts and a heavy 4-0 loss to Arsenal.

After the loss to Arsenal, Thomas Tuchel lamented that the team is poor and needs quality players and refused to make promises that they team will be ready for the new season.

However Chelsea has signed about four new players to the season many will be expecting them to win but the blues go flop because of these two reasons.

 1. The Goodison Park jinx:

Everton's home turf, the Goodison Park has been a very difficult place for Chelsea to win. The blues tends to lose at Goodison no matter their form.

The blues even lost to a relegation battling Everton side at the Goodison last season.

Chelsea have won only three times in the past 14 league trips to Goodison Park, the most recent of which was 3-0 in the title-winning 2016/17 season, sealed by a stunning second-half display.

Since then Chelsea have not won at Goodison Park and this could be a factor in today's EPL Opener.

 2. Team has not found the winning momentum:

Chelsea are coming into the new season with a lot of new players that are yet to gelled with the team or form a bond together.

For example Thiago Silva and Kalidou Koulibaly are yet to understand each other in defense and we have Marc Cucurella, Raheem Sterling and Carney Chukwuemeka are still new to Thomas Tuchel's Tactics.

With Chelsea not fully gelled to the manager's philosophy, things might go south for the blues tonight.
