Arsenal had a brilliant start to their pre season fixtures, as they defeated German side, Nurnberg 5-3. Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta welcomed back some first team players in the friendly ahead of the pre season fixture. Arsenal started on a good note, but weren't clinical in front of goal. Edward Nketiah had a glorious opportunity to give Arsenal the lead in the opening of the first half, as he shot was parried away by Nurnberg's goalkeeper.
Nurnberg scored two quick goals to take an important lead into the half time break. Arsenal made changes in the opening minutes of the second half, as Gabriel Jesus made his Arsenal debut. Gabriel Jesus put one for Arsenal, a few minutes after he was introduced. Mohammed Elneny, then equalised for Arsenal to level the match, with a few minutes remaining. Arsenal then took the lead, after a humiliating own goal goal from Handwerker. Nurnberg equalised immediately to level the game 3-3. Gabriel Jesus then grabbed his second goal in the 74th minute to give Arsenal the required victory.
