CHA 5 VS 3 CHE: Worst Mistakes By Tuchel That Made Chelsea Lose To Charlotte 5 - 3 On Penalties

Chelsea faced Charlotte in a preseason friendly against Charlotte in preparation for the new season and to also build fotballing chemistry between the old and new players as well as the introduction of some young talents into the first team lineup.

Chelsea scored an early goal through Christian Pulisic but it only lasted for a while.

Chelsea thought they had won the match but a 90+3 minutes stoppage time equalizer by Daniel Rios ensured that the game's winner will be determined by a penalty shootout, all thanks to Tuchel's worst mistakes.

1.

Christian Pulisic was not just the goalscorer but a menace to the defenders of Charlotte and his substitution for newly signed Raheem Sterling was a very big mistake as the later was still rusty to play a full 45 minutes. He should have been introduced into the match when Chelsea must have undoubtedly won the match.

2.

Italian Jorginho was at the center of it all in the first half and should have stayed so rather than introducing young star, Conor Gallagher. Jorginho's substitution left a big whole in the midfield as they lost the balance and control of the game.

3.

Ben Chilwell should not have been introduced into the game when Chelsea were not sure if they had won the game as a one goal lead is not a sure bet until the full time whistle is blown as a balance in the defence was lost.

4.

Finally, it was a great mistake to substitute Chalobah for Reece James as Chalobah was one of the best players in the first half after he was substituted, his absence affected the balance of the midfield.

What are your thoughts on Chelsea's loss?
